Crowley, LA – Crowley Mayor Tim Monceaux issued the following information:
“To prepare for the forecasted heavy rainfall event this Tuesday and Wednesday, sandbags will be available at the Crowley Public Works building, located at 220 Jack Mitchell Road, on Tuesday, September 14th, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The City will provide the sand, sandbags, and shovels for you to fill the 6 sandbags per address. You must be a resident of Crowley and provide a valid driver’s license to obtain the sandbags. “I am hoping and praying Crowley citizens stay safe and we are spared heavy rainfall that could cause flooding.”

St. Landry Parish
St. Landry Parish Government is monitoring Tropical Storm Nicholas and has begun offering sandbags behind the Yambilee Building (1939 W. Landry in Opelousas) Sunday afternoon and sandbags will continue to be available Monday and Tuesday. Parish Government will be providing local municipalities with filled bags Monday. Please check with your local government for pickup locations.
Lafayette Parish
Although Tropical Storm Nicholas’ greatest impacts will be felt in Texas, Southwest Louisiana is expected to receive significant rainfall. Sandbags are available for Lafayette Parish residents.
All sandbag sites are self-bagging, and residents must bring their own shovel and manpower. Sites are open around the clock, but residents are encouraged to get sandbags during daylight hours.
