Opelousas Police Make Drug Arrest Following Traffic Stop

OPELOUSAS, La. -- Opelousas police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired license plate on Heather Drive May 4. Police said they came in contact with a strong odor of what appeared to be marijuana. After consent to search, additional drugs were located along two weapons.

Benjimin Phillips, 28-years-old was arrested and charged with the following:

ossession with intent to distribute scheduled one, illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS, possession with intent to distribute schedule four drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Opelousas Police are asking anyone with information related to any crime to contact the Opelousas Police Department at 337-948-2500,, or through Crime Stoppers (337-948-TIPS, or by using the P3 mobile App.) Tipsters can remain anonymous. Tipsters can receive up to a $1000.00 cash reward.
