Cory Smith is the weekend meteorologist/weather reporter for News15.
He grew up in Tampa, Florida. After being impacted by and dealing with the 2004-2005 hurricane seasons he became very interested in weather. Flash forward a few years and he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. While in high school he was able to experience all 4 seasons which also included severe weather and snowfall. It was from here that he fell in love with weather.
Cory attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he earned a B.S. in Meteorology. After graduating he worked as the weekend meteorologist at WTAP in Parkersburg, WV for almost two years before moving to Lafayette to join the team at News15.
His favorite types of weather to forecast are severe weather as well as winter weather but he is excited at the opportunity to be back in an area to forecast and experience Tropical weather.
Outside of work, Cory is a huge fan of baseball and roots for the Tampa Bay Rays; his favorite football team is the Carolina Panthers.
Cory is also very active on social media and would love to get connected with you! Make sure to search WxCory on all social media platforms to get the latest on the weather going on in Acadiana!
