LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN)- Several around Louisiana are on the road to recovery following Hurricane Ida and groups in Acadiana are finding ways to help in any way they can.
After a disaster, organizations around Acadiana come together to help in hopes of making the most of contributions for those affected by hurricane Ida.

One member of Covenant church says helping others is a priority. Bonnie Robert Will says "And in our case, we feel like that this is what we're supposed to do we are supposed to help our neighbors help each other in times of need be generous be kind be loving and be actually just like Jesus so that's what we do".

Some feel that one of the most effective ways of giving back is volunteering your time and efforts.

Beverly Tellifero says "Because we know there are people that we're not prepared and when your house is flooded when your roof's off you're desperate you're desperate to begin cleaning up and finding your treasures and finding your way forward and so this is our little way to be a drop in the bucket".

As donations start to pour in one Acadiana says there are many ways that those watching at home can help to give back.

Victoria Lane Alleman says "So we are looking for any and everything right now people need water and yes pallets of water are fantastic but if we could get gallons of water we know that there are people out there cutting down trees putting tarps on their roof in 98-degree weather there going to need a lot of water things that they can take".

One Acadiana says there accepting donations of any kind here's a quick list:

- Trash bags

- Cleaning supplies

- Small tents, Baby and adult diapers

- Water, Gatorade, Toilet paper

- Paper towels, Nonperishable snacks
