Lafayette Parish public schools are closed today

LPSS is closing schools due to the threat of severe weather.

Lafayette - The Lafayette Parish School System announced that the entire district will be closed on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, due to the potential for severe weather and flooding in the area. With the potential of flooding and rain throughout the day, and with student and staff safety being our top priority, we feel this is the best decision in this uncertain situation.

LPSS district offices and facilities will be closed, but essential personnel will still report to work. As a reminder, essential personnel should report to work only when it is safe to do so and should contact their immediate supervisor if unable to report.

Please continue to remain safe, and we will reopen schools as soon as it is safe to do so.
