Lafayette, LA,-  William C. Schumacher Family Foundation (WCSFF) has committed to making a $10,000.00 matching grant donation to Cité des Arts in support of its efforts to raise $40,000.00 to “Save Cité des Arts.” Theatres and live event venues nationwide have been devastated by COVID-19 and, per the ongoing survey, The Economic Impact of Corona Virus on the Arts and Culture Sector, being conducted by Americans for the Arts, the national economic impact of COVID-19 to date is $15.2 Billion. Cité des Arts has not been spared the devastating effects of COVID-19, as its performances, classes, and workshops have been canceled postponed.

The doors opened on this facility in June 2002, and Cité des Arts is a recognized community theater and grassroots arts incubator that offers an affordable venue for local artists of all disciplines in downtown Lafayette. Innovative programming with an emphasis on education and community outreach has earned Cité des Arts the role of a grassroots arts and arts education incubator. It is not just theater! At Cité des Arts you will find art exhibits, film, dance, music, plus opportunities to learn to act, play an instrument; or audition for a movie or play, dance in any of several different genres. That is true for children and adults!

WCSFF is a Lafayette-based philanthropic organization dedicated to improving lives by engaging the community in areas such as education, arts and culture, healthcare, crisis response, and other vital interests impacting the overall quality of life in Louisiana and beyond. “For nearly two decades, Cité des Arts has been a part of the fabric of our community, contributing in many ways to our arts culture here in Acadiana. And so, we believe in many respects that supporting Cité des Arts is continuing to support education in our community,” says Ryan R. Domengeaux, CEO and GC of WCSFF.

To continue this valuable work post-COVID-19 to teach and entertain our local audiences you can donate to “Save Cité des Arts” and help us meet the $10,000.00 match by the William C.
