UPDATE:  The Town of Grand Coteau is under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice. We had a main water line break. Water will be Tuned Off tomorrow from 8:00 am until possibly 12:00 noon for repair. May possibly take longer. Please share with your family, friends, and neighbors. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any questions please call or text the Town Hall, the Mayor any Councilman. You may have low water pressure or none at times during the day and evening the Utilities Department is working on keeping us with water today.


The Bayou Teche Water Works has recovered pressure in it's distribution system. Testing has been completed and all tests are satisfactory.

The current boil water advisory has been rescinded.


From Mayor Alsandor: The boil advisory for the City of Opelousas has been lifted. The Department of Health & Hospitals has tested water samples and all analysis of the city water has passed and cleared. We have received confirmation and are now informing the public the city-wide boil advisory is no longer in effect.

We will continue to monitor our water levels and pressure while providing the citizens of Opelousas safe drinking water. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unforeseen winter weather event that impacted our water system and our lives. Thanks also to the public works department who worked diligently to help resolve the issues. We will continue to serve the citizens and businesses of Opelousas to the best of our abilities. Stay safe. 


UPDATE 2/25/2021- Mayor Jennifer Vidrine is pleased to advise that the water boil advisory resulting from last week’s inclement weather has been lifted.

Ville Platte (Evangeline Parish)- Still under a Boil Advisory until further notice. 


Lafayette, LA (February 21, 2021) - Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has lifted the Boil Water Advisory for residents and businesses in the areas north of I-10, south of Gendarme Road, west of Wilderness Trail and east of Janvier Road.

Water samples collected by LUS under the guidance of the Louisiana Department of Health-Office of Public Health have been cleared.


UPDATE 2/25/2021 3:36PM- Waterworks District #3 (Coteau) is no longer under a Boil Water Advisory. Although our plant operations have stabilized, water demand is still higher than normal. We suggest customers continue inspections of their properties for leaks, starting from the meter to the farthest point.

Waterworks District #3 (Coteau) expects water service to continue without interruption. We ask our customers to please stay conservative with their water use and continue to inspect properties for leaks. Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until further notice.


Lafayette, LA (February 20, 2021) - Residents and businesses in the areas north of I-10, south of Gendarme Road, west of Wilderness Trail and east of Janvier Road are still under a Boil Water Advisory.

Customers in the affected area need to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, using it for food prep or rinsing food. The one minute starts after water has been brought to a rolling boil.

We are asking all residential and business customers to assess their water lines for any leaks or breaks and to continue water conservation measures.

To ensure water safety and quality, the advisory will remain in effect until collected water samples are cleared by the Louisiana Department of Health-Office of Public Health.
