Victim of Opelousas Shooting Also Wanted By Port Barre Police

The Opelousas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in a ongoing shooting investigation.

OPELOUSAS, La. - The Opelousas Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in a ongoing shooting investigation. OPD officers responded to shots fired in the area of St. Cyr & Blanchard Streets on Sunday morning at about 3:30 AM.

Officers were in the area monitoring traffic from local nightclubs. Upon making contact with the victim who was later identified as Jamarcus J. Hardy of Port Barre, La. Officers learned that the shots may have been fired from what the victim described as a brown Buick. No other information was available at the time of the shooting.

It was also determined that the victim in the shooting was at the time wanted by Port Barre Police for a number of charges including Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. 

Hardy was transported to a local medical facility for treatment and was listed in serious condition.

According to Port Barre Police,as soon as Hardy is stable and healthy enough, arrest warrants will be executed and he will face the charges against him.
