LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) - Today marks a month since ul lafayette has started offering vaccinations on their campus and UL is seeing about 100 vaccinations a day. Students at UL Lafayette have been flocking to the testing and vaccination center on campus after UL announced its "Don't Wait, Vaccinate program.

They will be eligible to receive an iPhone 12, MacBook air and so much more. I caught up with a few students to get their thoughts on the incentive program.

Alexa Theriot says "I think it's a great idea it's a good motivator for everyone else to get it even if they don't want it".

Tommy Ray says "I think what they're doing is great for the community and for and us students as well who can take advantage of a free phone or something like that so I think it's cool".

UL is seeing around 100 students a day at the testing site, which is located here on east st. mary boulevard but one student believes incentives aren't fair.

Cameron Sonier says "I don't understand why they feel the need to bribe people to take the shot it's a new shot I don't want to get it I'm not going to get it I'm young I'm healthy I eat right I'm not trying to get a random shot and not knowing what the effect is going to be".

Those who haven't been vaccinated against covid-19 like junior Jacob Goff nor filed a written notice by the deadline will have a "hold" placed on their registration for winter session or spring classes.

Goff says while the incentives are a great idea, he would rather see the free items go to someone that's most in need.

Jacob Goff says "The incentives are great but as a college student that's actually here on a full-ride its kind of hand and hand I don't need the free stuff because I'm a person who believes that I don't need it somebody else may need it so for those people who aren't vaccinated and they get it I rather somebody like that win it".

Dean Margarita Perez believes this program is the key to moving forward.

Dean Perez says "I just want to encourage students and encourage everyone watching to really consider getting vaccinated it's the best chance we have to end the pandemic and to back to pre-pandemic way of life".
