UL-Lafayette Instructional and Operational Changes Ahead of Hurricane Delta

In response to Hurricane Delta, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has announced the following instructional and operational changes beginning at noon Thursday, Oct. 8, through Saturday, Oct. 10.

In response to Hurricane Delta, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has announced the following instructional and operational changes beginning at noon Thursday, Oct. 8, through Saturday, Oct. 10.

Classes

  • In-person, hybrid and HyFlex classes held prior to noon on Thursday, Oct. 8, will be held as usual.
  • In-person, hybrid and HyFlex classes that begin at noon or later Thursday, Oct. 8, will be held remotely.
  • All classes will be canceled on Friday, Oct. 9.
  • Classes will resume on Monday, Oct. 12.


Students, if the weather prohibits you from attending or participating in your classes, contact your professors. You should also complete the Report Anticipated or Unplanned Absence form . Operations

  • Campus operations and departmental offices will move to teleworking at noon on Thursday, Oct. 8.
  • On-campus operations and departmental offices will be closed Friday, Oct. 9.
  • Only essential personnel performing weather-related tasks should remain on campus Thursday afternoon and report on Friday, if needed. Contact your supervisor with questions.

Employees, contact your supervisor if you plan to evacuate because of a local voluntary or mandatory evacuation order.

Buildings

  • Edith Garland Dupré Library and the Agnes Edwards Hall open-use labs will remain open until noon on Thursday, Oct. 8. They will be closed from noon on Thursday, Oct. 8, through Saturday, Oct. 10. All locations plan to open Sunday, Oct. 11, and will operate on a regular schedule.
  • Staff members at Student Health Services will shelter-in-place from noon on Thursday, Oct. 8, through Friday, Oct. 9, and will be available for medical emergencies.
  • All other campus buildings, except residence halls, will close at noon on Thursday, Oct. 8 and will remain closed through Saturday, Oct. 10. This includes Bourgeois Hall, the Child Development Center, and the Student Union.

Campus Cupboard

  • Campus Cupboard will be open from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8.
  • It will be closed on Friday, Oct. 9.

Parking

  • Bus service will be suspended on Thursday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 9. Students coming to campus on Thursday may park for free in the parking garages or the Zone 15/E.K. Long parking lot at the corner of East St. Mary Boulevard and Girard Park Circle.
  • Shuttle service will be available as needed.
  • Campus residents may move their vehicles to a parking garage beginning at noon on Thursday, Oct. 8.
  • Parking garages include Girard Park, Taft Street, and Olivier.
    • Vehicles must be moved from the parking garages before Monday, Oct. 12.

Campus Events

All in-person campus events are cancelled from Thursday, Oct. 8, through Saturday, Oct. 10. Virtual events will continue as planned.

University Communications

The University will continue to monitor the storms and will issue communications as needed.

Updates and emergency information will be posted on the University’s website and official social media accounts. Information will be communicated to you through your University email account and possibly the University's Emergency Notification System (ENS).

ENS emergency alerts are sent by email, telephone and text message. If you have not signed up to receive emergency alerts, please do so. View directions on how to sign up for ENS alerts on the Office of Environmental Health and Safety website.
