According to Sheriff Blaise Smith, Alvin Fitch and Christopher Martin were arrested on murder charges. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet states that the discovery of human bones in a wooded area has led to two arrests for murder. Sheriff Soignet advised that on February 24, 2021, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Detectives located human remains in the 5200 block of North Bayou Black Dr. The identity of the individual is not being released at this time, pending DNA confirmation from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
Alvin Fitch, 34, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on February 24, 2021, at 6:50 pm on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for First Degree murder.
Fitch was also arrested on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the following charges:
- Possession of firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
- Possession of clonazepam
- Possession of cocaine
- Illegal use/possession/control of weapons-crime of violence/CDS
- Monetary instrument abuse
- Possession of marijuana
Christopher Martin, 34, Berwick, LA, was arrested on February 24, 2021, at 11:35 pm on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for First Degree murder.
Martin was also charged with possession of schedule I (heroin), possession of schedule II (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. No bail has been set.
Sheriff Blaise Smith announces that on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, Detectives with the SMPSO Narcotics Section along with Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department conducted an investigation to ascertain the location of Alvin Fitch, who held active warrants with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Through the investigation, the detectives observed Alvin Fitch get into a vehicle.
Detectives conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in Bayou Vista at the intersection of Delmar and Venus Streets and apprehended Fitch. He was placed under arrest for both warrants and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
Fitch was later transferred to another agency.
As the investigation continued, detectives, along with officers from the Berwick Police Department, traveled to a residence on Oregon street in Berwick in order to locate Christopher Martin, who also held a warrant with Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, contact was made with Martin. Through the investigation, drugs and drug paraphernalia belonging to Martin were found. Martin was arrested and taken to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
Sheriff Blaise Smith would like to acknowledge the multi-agency cooperation of detectives with the Morgan City Police Department, Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office, Berwick Police Department, and the SMPSO Narcotics Section that led to the apprehension and arrest of Alvin Fitch and Christopher Martin.
Chance Boudreaux (26 years of age residing in Morgan City, LA) one count of Accessory after the Fact to First Degree Murder.
Chance Boudreaux was already in custody in Morgan City and booked for Accessory after the Fact to First Degree Murder and is being held on $500,000 bond.
Sheriff Soignet advised that this is still an active investigation and more arrests are likely.
