On Monday, February 8, 2021, Deputies were dispatched to Highway 90, Jennings, Louisiana in reference to a disturbance. Dispatcher advised responding deputies the complainant had been assaulted by his brother, Thomas Byrd. The complainant reported his brother was armed with a gun and had also pepper sprayed the victim. When deputies arrived on scene, the victim showed signs of being sprayed with an irritant. The victim stated to deputies that his brother pulled a firearm on him and threatened to shoot him because he drove into the driveway too fast. Thomas Allen Byrd, 48, of 811 Gallup street, Jennings was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated battery. Byrd was transported to the parish jail and is held with no bond.
Deputies also responded around 10:00 am, Monday Feb. 8th to a theft call at N. Gallaugher road. Deputies spoke with the complainant who advised the owner of the property had recently passed away and a relative was seen taking tools, a lawn mower and utility trailer. Deputies were notified that Jennings Police had the vehicle and suspect stopped and charged with unrelated offenses. Brennon Kade Crochet, 33, of N. Gallaugher road, Jennings was arrested by deputies for simple burglary, theft over $1,000 and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. Crochet was also booked on two contempt of court warrants and a disturbing the peace by intoxication charge from Jennings Police. Crochet is held with no bond in the parish jail.
