(KADN) - The tropics have come alive as we are tracking a disturbance in the Gulf, a Tropical Depression along the Southeast coast, and another area of interest in the Atlantic.

We continue to keep a close eye on an area of disturbed weather in the Bay of Campeche.

Low pressure is likely to develop in the coming days and then head northward.

There is now a medium chance that this develops into either a tropical depression or storm later this week.

This low will send a plume of moisture northward towards Acadiana for the weekend.

Regardless of development, the biggest impact from this system will be a heavy rain threat.

Where the heaviest rain falls will be determined by where the center of this system goes.

With this likely being an eastward-weighted system (meaning the heaviest rain will be on the eastern side), we will pay very close attention to where the center moves onshore.

If the center moves into Texas, this will keep Acadiana on the eastern side leading to very heavy rainfall over the weekend.

If the center moves into Acadiana or further east, this would lead to drier conditions across the area.

With so much uncertainty, it's important to pay attention to the forecast in the coming days for changes to our local weather.

In addition to the Gulf system, Tropical Depression 2 has developed along the Southeast coast.

T.D. 2 will continue to move into the open waters of the Atlantic and not affect any land areas.

If it develops further, it would get the name Bill.

Finally, a vigorous tropical wave has moved off the coast of Africa.

It will take time to organize, but the National Hurricane Center has given this area a low chance of development in the next 5 days.

This area will be one to monitor in the days to come, but it will stay over open waters through the next week at least.
