Hurricane Nicholas continues to slowly slide along the Texas coast.

Nicholas made landfall southwest of Galveston, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the coast.

As Nicholas moves east, heavy rains will overspread Acadiana and could lead to flooding throughout the area.

Expected rain totals range from five to eight inches throughout Acadiana, though some areas may pick up more than that where rain bands slow to a crawl.

There will also be a tornado threat associated with Nicholas for quick, spin-up tornadoes in the outer bands of the system.

Remember to not drive on flooded roadways!
