Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department acted on intelligence that several people were at a residence located in the 1100 block of Ina Clare Dr. in Opelousas that were in possession of several firearms. One of the persons was believed to be wanted for involvement in a shooting that took place on June 8, 2021 at the North City Park in Opelousas. The shooting was an exchange of gunfire between (2) opposing groups that had a previous unsettled dispute. The exchange of gunfire took place while the park was occupied by several persons including small children who were using the recreational facilities of the park particularly the basketball court. No one at the park was injured. Leads were developed by investigators that led to the arrest of one juvenile suspect prior to Tuesday. That leads to Monday's arrest where John Lamb Jr. was taken into custody at a residence in the 1100 blk. of Ina Clare Dr. Outstanding warrants had been issued for Lambs arrest for charges related to the shooting incident from June 8, 2021. Two additional persons at the residence were charged with other weapons violations. All (3) men were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail as follows.
