Breaux Bridge—Teche Center for the Arts (TCA) is pleased to announce that registrations are open for their 2021 Sumer Camps. For the past seven years, TCA has tailored its summer camp offerings around the needs of children in the Saint Martin Parish community and has based their plans on the nonprofit’s mission to serve as the principal cultural, arts, music, education, and historical center for residents and tourists of Saint Martin Parish and beyond. TCA is dedicated to educating children about history, culture, arts, and music of the Cajun and Creole traditions. Parents can register their children at techecenterforthearts.com. Camps fill up quickly, so it is advised that those interested don’t wait.
The summer camps and activities for 2021 include [NEW] Cajun & Zydeco Dance with Ashley Dugas, July 12-14, 8-noon (includes daily snack) $ 100.00 per child. Cajun Cooking with Debbie Gauthier July 21-23, 8-noon (includes daily snack) $100.00 per child. [NEW] Percussion Instruments Mini Camp, July 31, 8-3p.m. (Snack provided. Bring bag lunch) $ 85.00 Camps are open to kids in grades 1-8. More camps may be added with increased interest.
At TCA this June, there will also be a special three-day camp called Summer Treble which will focus on learning a traditional instrument from the Cajun music tradition, Cajun songs, arts, and culture activities. Summer Treble Camp will be held on June 28-30, 2021, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Open to children in 2nd through 8th grade. Some instruments are available for students who do not have their own. Open to those who already play an instrument and kids who are just started out and interested in learning. Fee is $165 per child and $150 for students with siblings attending. Lunch included. Please provide your child with a water bottle.
