According to a heart warming Facebook post by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, Blake Giroir was headed home when he saw a kid practicing baseball in his yard alone. Deputy Giroir loves baseball himself and stopped to catch for this young man, Johnathan, who is 10 years old.

Here is how Johnathan's mom, Courtney, described it...

" When you see a Sheriff's unit pull up in front of your house and have a mini panic attack , only to realize he stopped to throw the ball with your son who not long ago got home from a game and was in the yard practicing. Morgan City might not have the greatest reputation but it's this small town that makes me love my home town, " says Jonathan's mom, Courtney Wright.

Johnathan normally is an outfielder but has a coach who encourages the young ones to learn new positions. He pitched a little in the game and really wanted to work on his pitching.

Courtney added that Deputy Giroir's time "meant so much to my son. He thinks it's so cool."

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Officers said " We think Johnathan's approach to the game is pretty cool too. Thanks, Johnathan and Deputy Giroir for showing us all what community looks like."
