SCOTT, LA -  On Sunday (9/19/21) 12:36 PM Scott Fire Department was dispatched to a business in the 200 block of North Fieldspan Road for an investigation of a vapor cloud emitting from a tank.

Upon arrival firefighters identified the cloud as vaporized propane coming from a 500-gallon tank, utilized to fill forklift tanks. Two roads effected by the vapor cloud were shut down, tominimize the chance ofany sort of explosion.

The Lafayette Hazmat Response Team was then requested for assistance in managing the incident.

The leak was quickly brought under control and roads were reopened. It was determined that the fill valve was left in the open position, causing the vapor cloud.
