School Openings and Closures Due to Ida

Schools are starting to announce openings post Ida.

Colleges

UL Lafayette

UPDATE: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be open and classes will resume Tuesday, Aug. 31. All campus operations will resume on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

LSUE 

Out of abundance of caution due to the expected path and severity of Tropical Storm Ida, the LSU Eunice campus will be closed on Monday, August 30. Normal business hours are expected back on Tuesday, August 31.

LSU 

In order to give our students and employees more time to recover from Hurricane Ida, LSU will be closed through Monday, Sept. 6, and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

South Louisiana Community College  

South Louisiana Community College will reopen all of its campuses and resume classes with the exception of the Young Memorial Campus and the Marine & Petroleum Safety Training Center in Morgan City Tuesday, August 31.

While the T.H. Harris Campus in Opelousas will be open, limited classes will be offered. Students at the T.H. Harris Campus should check Canvas or the college’s website for an update on their courses later today.

The safety of our students and employees is priority one. Students who cannot attend class - whether in-person or via WebEx - because of Hurricane Ida should contact their instructors. Employees who cannot return to work should contact their supervisor.

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University Closure

Due to widespread power outages and other weather-related impacts, the FranU physical campus will be closed through Wednesday, 9/1/21. All campus operations and activities are cancelled including remote classes. Undergraduate clinicals are also cancelled. Graduate clinical students should contact their faculty and/or program directors regarding clinical assignments.If unable to reach faculty or program directors, use your best judgment regarding clinicals. Please be alert to travel conditions in your area.

ACADIA PARISH

UPDATE: Acadia Parish School System will resume normal operations on Tuesday, August 31, 2021

EVANGELINE PARISH

UPDATE : All schools & district offices in the Evangeline Parish School District will be open Tuesday August 31, 2021.

IBERIA PARISH

All public schools are closed Monday, August 30.

JEFF DAVIS PARISH

All Jeff Davis Parish Schools and office locations will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, August 31, 2021. All Chromebooks checked out on Friday must be returned tomorrow as well.

LAFAYETTE PARISH

LPSS -  UPDATE: LPSS schools and facilities will reopen Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

Lafayette Christian Academy will be closed on Monday, August 30th, to allow our staff and families the time that they need to make possible hurricane preparations or evacuations.

Acadiana Renaissance Charter School is closed Monday.

ST. LANDRY PARISH

UPDATE - All St. Landry Parish schools and facilities will be open to students Tuesday, August 31, 2021, with the exception of Cankton Elementary, Eunice Junior High (follow pre-hurricane hybrid schedule), Port Barre Middle, Port Barre High School, and Washington Career and Technical Education Center. The above-mentioned schools will continue at-home learning for students. You will receive additional information from your school’s administrator. Students attending the St. Landry Parish Virtual Learning Academy will be contacted with additional information regarding coursework.

ST. MARTIN

All St. Martin Parish Schools in upper St. Martin Parish (which is all schools except Stephensville Elem) will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, August 31, 2021. We had no damage to any of our schools and all communities have electricity.

Stephensville elementary School in lower St. Martin Parish will reopen tomorrow.

ST. MARY PARISH

St. Mary Parish Schools will close on Monday, August 30th, due to the approach of a predicted major hurricane.
Parents should monitor the school district’s website for further updates as the storm passes the area and a return to school date is announced.
District officials will survey any damages once the storm exits and immediately communicate with staff and parents on school reopening through the St. Mary Parish Schools website and JCampus messaging system.

VERMILION PARISH

All Vermilion Parish Schools will re-open Wednesday, September 1, 2021. North Vermilion High School will be virtual Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (September 1-3) due to COVID-19 concerns.

Sugar ‘n Spice Children’s Academy

We would like to announce that ALL FOUR locations of Sugar ‘n Spice Children’s Academy will be closed due to the threat of inclement weather on Monday, August 30th.

Ascension Episcopal School

All three campuses of Ascension Episcopal School will be closed on Monday, August 30th due to Hurricane Ida.
