Below are a list of school closures/ virtual classes that will take place due to Tropical Storm Nicholas:

Jefferson Davis Parish

JDP Schools/Offices to Close on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, Classes will be Virtual

Message from Kirk Credeur, Superintendent:

Following the National Weather Service briefing, all schools and office locations in Jeff Davis Parish will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Teachers/students will transition to virtual learning tomorrow. Students with home wifi access may check out Chromebooks from the school. Parents who have not yet signed the Device Usage Agreement will need to sign the agreement prior to Chromebook check out. All lessons will be accessible to students in Google Classroom, and teachers will be monitoring Google Classroom for students needing assistance. For parents who are unfamiliar with Google Classroom, the link below will provide guidance for accessing Google Classroom and digital lesson resources. Acadia Parish

(UPDATE) - The Acadia Parish School System will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, September 15th, 2021.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions overnight and announce any changes - if needed - as early as we possibly can in the morning. Students that have difficulty getting to school due to any reasons associated with the weather will be excused.

The Acadia Parish School System will close all facilities on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021. Students will be provided remote learning assignments and activities to work on while the school system is closed. The plan is to resume normal operations on Wednesday, September 15th.

Evangeline Parish

(UPDATE) All Evangeline Parish schools and district offices will re-open Thursday, September 16, 2021.

Evangeline Parish Schools and District Offices are closed September 14th "in an effort to keep our students, employees, etc. safe," said Superintendent Darwin Lazard.

St. Landry Parish

(UPDATE) - All St. Landry Parish schools and facilities will be open Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

All SLP schools and facilities will be open Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

The decision to reopen schools is based on information gathered from the National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Preparedness.

All St. Landry Parish schools and facilities will be closed Tuesday, September 14, due to the possibility of severe weather and flooding in the Acadiana area. Students will shift to remote learning. According to the district, teachers will assign work in Google Classroom. Students do not need to log into Google Meet. Check Google Classroom for assigned work.

Lafayette Parish

UPDATE - Lafayette Parish School System Reopens Schools

All LPSS schools and facilities will reopen tomorrow Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

After consulting with local emergency officials and meteorologists, we are anticipating better weather conditions in orderto welcome students back to campus.The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. As a precaution, buses will not travel onroadways that appear to have high water levels because drivers cannot accurately determine the depthof standing water. Based on your individual circumstances, parents and guardians may decideattendance is not best for your family at this time. If you feel conditions are not safe, you may choose tokeep your student home.Please continue to stay safe during this time, and we look forward to welcoming students back to school.

All LPSS schools and facilities will be closed tomorrow Tuesday, September 14, 2021, due to the heavy rains and potential flooding expected with Tropical Storm Nicholas. All students will participate in remote learning while facilities are closed. Assignments will be communicated to students by teachers at each individual school.

LPSS will continue to monitor the weather in consultation with local emergency officials and will notify families of the status of school on Wednesday as the storm develops. This decision will be communicated tomorrow afternoon. "We encourage our families to make necessary emergency plans for your family and to stay safe during this time. Lafayette Christian Academy will be closed Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

St. Martin Parish

According to Superintendent Allen Blanchard, Jr., all St. Martin Parish Schools will dismiss at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Students will be sent home with Chromebooks in case a virtual day is needed Wednesday (September 15).

Vermilion Parish

Based on the 4pm advisory, the flood forecast from tropical storm Nicholas has been moved up. With the scenario of rain chances getting worse throughout the day and not wanting to dismiss mid day, ALL VERMILION PARISH SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED ON TUESDAY.
The models show that we could get between 6-12 inches of rain. Some versions also have some areas of Vermilion with possiblities of 15-21 inches of rain. Still a very unsettled forecast, but after consultation with weather forecasters and other local superintendents we feel this is the safest decision.
