The Salvation Army is doing its part to help the community beat the heat this blistering-hot summer.

The agency's Lafayette operation on East Third Street conducted a fan give-away for seniors age 55 and up.

Dozens of fans were distributed to folks in need. News15 spoke to Lt.Thomas Johnson , Commanding Officer for Salvation Army about what this event mean to him and the community.
