Lafayette, LA (KADN) -- Brooks Badeaux has shuffled through the dirt at baseball stadiums across the country as a minor leaguer for 10 years. Before that, Brooks was as a college player at florida state playing under legendary Coach Mike Martin. Now his call up is back home Lafayette. The former Rebel second baseman is coaching his old high schoool team. His wife already worked at Tuerlings Catholic
"I've been in the baseball world for several years and I offered to help find the next guy and then they said, 'How about you,'" Brooks said.
Coach Badeaux was on the 1990 state championship team as an 8th grade student. He understands the standard of excellence it took to build 8 state titles the baseball team has earned.
"We don't play against an opponent we play against perfection everyday," Brooks said. "No matter who is in the other dugout, if you play a perfect game it doesn't matter what the scoreboard says you aren't going to do anything differently."
