Lafayette,LA-   The Performing Arts Serving Acadiana executive director, who expressed that the renamed group will bring new artists to the Heymann Performing Arts Center.

"Everyone is a winner when you come to a performing arts event."

Many around the Acadiana area are familiar with the former Performing Arts Society of Acadiana.

"We've produced more than three hundred shows here at the Heymann and in the recent history of PASA we are ready to begin PASA," says executive director Jackie Lyle.

After changing the organization’s name from UpStage to Performing Arts Serving Acadiana, the organization plans to put on even more shows under the new name. PASA executive director Jackie Lyle says with every show, they see it as a new project for people in Lafayette.

"A way to connect with the community. So for the New Orleans jazz Orchestra, we did a small trio concert in Washington, Louisiana, and then another at Holy Rosary Institute."

PASA's primary focus is to make sure that everyone has access to see great national artists, "People who don't get a chance to travel get an see these great artists here in Lafayette. You know, you could live five miles away and, in the past, seen Tony Bennett here, or five miles away and see Queen Latifah here.

Due to COVID, several shows were canceled, but the crowd for the New Orleans jazz Orchestra shows how much audiences miss going to performances.

"Right now, why an audience appreciates something that he or she sees could just easily be just because they got to see something and sit with people." Lyle stated.

The change is also giving new opportunities for students. Maleah Bocage, who interns with PASA, believes the internship has been beneficial to her because she sees herself in the music industry.

"As far as marketing, booking, just looking over contracts, grant writing, and experience within the entertainment, performing arts industry."

Lyle says that PASA is always looking for new volunteers that are eager to learn the music business side and what goes on behind the scenes. Make sure to check out PASA's website at https://pasaonline.org/.
