Opelousas Police Investigating Shooting in the 100blk of S. Cane Street

Officers responded to a call of a person that had been shot in the back in the 100 block of S. Cane Street.

Officers responded to a call of a person that had been shot in the back in the 100 block of S. Cane Street on July 8, 2021 at approximately 9:25pm.

Upon arrival officers discovered one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was able to relay to officers that he was in his home and heard several gunshots and he then felt himself being struck in the back.

Officers located evidence of numerous rounds which were fired at the residence. No suspect(s) or motive has yet been determined. The victim in the shooting was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition.
