Opelousas Police Searching for Vehicle Involved in Friday Morning Shooting That Injured Two

The Opelousas Police Department is investigating after two people were shot early Friday morning.

UPDATE 4/9/2021 12:51: Officers responded to a shooting in the 1100 blk of W. Park Ave. One victim suffered a non-life threating injury to the hand while the second victim was shot in the upper body which caused a serious injury. Both victims were transported to a local hospitals for medical treatment. One victim was treated and released, while the other still remains in the hospital in serious condition. The victims were shot while they sat in a vehicle in front of a residence on Park Ave. Video surveillance in the area captured a vehicle that was involved in the shooting.

OPELOUSAS, La. (KADN) - The Opelousas Police Department is investigating after two people were shot early Friday morning.

According to Chief Martin McLendon, officers were called to the 1100 block of West Park Avenue around 2:56 a.m. Friday.

Officers found two people shot. According to the chief, one injury was non-life threatening. The other person was shot in the chest area.

Both were taken to a Lafayette hospital for treatment.

According to the chief, there are no suspects at this time.
