Opelousas Junior High Lockdown Lifted After Weapon Reported on Campus

The school is no longer on lockdown and all students and staff members are safe.

OPELOUSAS, La. - On November 15, 2021 Opelousas Junior High School was placed on lockdown after receiving a report of a weapon on campus.

Through the diligent work of the school resource officer, the student in question was quickly apprehended.

The school is no longer on lockdown and all students and staff members are safe. Everything occurred without incident.

"Providing a safe and secure learning environment is a priority of the St. Landry Parish School District. By working as a school community, we can create and maintain the level of safety that we want for all."
