One Arrested in Shooting Death of a Juvenile; More Arrests to Come

In the early morning hours of May 15, 2020, officers of the Crowley Police Department were dispatched to the area of West 10th Street in reference to shots being fired.

CROWLEY, La. - In the early morning hours of May 15, 2020, officers of the Crowley Police Department were dispatched to the area of West 10th Street in reference to shots being fired.

Upon their arrival, officers observed a juvenile male victim (Emori Carter) laying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Chief of Police Jimmy Broussard. Medical personnel were contacted, but the victim died from his injuries on scene.
Investigators processed the scene and collected pertinent evidence; Broussard stated. The victim was sent to Calcasieu Forensics Laboratory for an autopsy.

During the investigation, investigators were able to identify a suspect as Freeman, Xavien Jermaine. He was arrested by the Crowley Police Department on November 18, 2020 for one count of 1st degree murder. He is being held in the Acadia Parish Jail with a one-million-dollar bond. Investigators say that more arrest are to come.
