LAFAYETTE,La. - Officials with the ACLA: Latin Music Festival announced Wednesday that the event has been canceled.

The ACLA Latin Music Festival is a  free, multicultural & Family friendly event held since 2002.

The event includes Mesa en Español, La buena Vida Dance Series, Movies In the Parc Host, Cinco de Mayo Live Music Celebration.

The full statement on the canellation of the event can be read below:

After careful consideration, deliberation and consultation with our Medical Professional Partners, ACLA, the non-profit organization that hosts/produces/creates the “Latin Music Festival” in Downtown Lafayette, has made the difficult and heart breaking decision to cancel our annual 2021 festival.

Our Board has waited longer than expected with hopes that our restaurants, musicians, entertainers, vendors and sponsors could serve the general public while providing much needed entertainment and creating a boost to our local economy. However, the numbers continue to work against us and we must all endure another year of economic loss while understanding that public safety is paramount and above all.

Moving forward, ACLA will continue to put all hands on deck through our community outreach program. We believe that with the recent Federal approval of Covid-19 vaccinations our team will be needed now more than ever in order to bring back our beloved City and State from the pandemic.

Our Board continues to look forward into new ways or opportunities to work with other local organizations, such as, DTA, Festival International, ACA, LCVC, in order to promote culture, art, music, food, folklore and high quality talent. We thank our sponsors, restaurants, artists, entertainers and the general public.

We promise that next year, our “Latin Music Festival” will be worth the wait of the three long years.
