Posted: Aug 12, 2020 3:39 AM

Maurice, Louisiana (KADN) --North Vermilion is determined to make a deeper playoff run after just getting blasted in the first round against Bastrop last year. Even harder this year since they have to replace their starting quarterback, their starting running back, and a slew of linebackers That's high school football for you. this year is a lot different with the pandemic, but they have to stay safe and succeed regardless.

"It is always difficult when you trying to replace the starting quarterback," Patriots head coach Brett Blakey said. "Our quarterback was the district MVP last year. I think the guys we have can get the job done. It's basically just showing up and doing your job. We are going to show up and be prepared and do everything to the best of our ability."

They have the perfect playoff tuneup when they face St. Thomas More the last week of the season. The coaching staff says the motto hasn't changed here. Be one percent better every day so they can make another run the playoffs.
