LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) - The new terminal at the Lafayette Regional Airport is set to open on January 20.

It's a project years in the making that has many who fly through LFT excited.

The new terminal is twice the size of the old one and boasts more parking spots.

There's also two TSA security lines and space to add a third one if needed.

Nursing mothers will be able to use the two new Mothers' Rooms. Those traveling with a service animal will be able to take them to a new Service Animal Relief Area.

Once the new LFT terminal opens, decommissioning will begin on the old one. It will eventually be demolished to make space for future expansion.
