New program to offer free rides to COVID-19 vaccine sites

The Ride United Vaccine Access campaign will offer rides via Lyft to vaccine sites in Lafayette and the surrounding area.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) - The United Way of Acadiana and 232-HELP/211 launched a new program that will allow some people free transportation to COVID-19 vaccination sites.

The Ride United Vaccine Access campaign will offer rides via Lyft to vaccine sites in Lafayette and the surrounding area.

Those needing a ride to a vaccine can use credits in the Lyft app when scheduling a ride. People can also call 211 to schedule a ride, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., subject to Lyft availability.

Those in need of ride assistance can dial 211 for more information.

The effort is possible due to a Blue Cross and Blue Shielf of Louisiana Foundation grant.
