UPDATE:Thaddeus Thomas turned himself in to Opelousas Police on September 7, 2020 at about 1:30 P.M. The victim, the suspect’s uncle is still hospitalized in serious condition. Thomas was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on one count of attempted second degree murder.
On September 5, 2020 at about 08:30 AM Opelousas Police were called to the intersection of Pandora & Church Streets in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival it was determined that one adult male victim received a gunshot wound to his back area. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was in serious condition. A suspect has been identified in the shooting. Police are looking for Mr. Thaddeus Thomas 33 YOA of Opelousas, La. Mr. Thomas is wanted on the charge of one count of attempted second degree murder. The victim and the suspect in this case are related family members. (victim is suspects uncle) The shooting may have been the result of an ongoing dispute between the victim and the suspect. It is believed that the suspect is armed with a small caliber pistol. Anyone with information on Mr. Thomas’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Opelousas Police Department.
