EVANGELINE PARISH - The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has arrested a Ville Platte man for setting his dad’s outdoor kitchen on fire.
Joshua Weathersby, 29, was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on one count of Simple Arson. In the late evening hours of Friday, September 5, the Ville Platte Fire Department requested the assistance of the SFM to determine the origin and cause of a residential fire located in the 1800 block of State Avenue. Deputies learned that the homeowner reported having watched his son, Weathersby, set his outdoor kitchen on fire. With the help of the Ville Platte Police Department, Weathersby was located and taken into custody. In an interview with SFM deputies, Weathersby admitted to setting the fire out of aggravation for having to sleep in the outdoor kitchen area where he had seen rodents. Weathersby was then placed under arrest.
