(KADN) - A 27-year-old man is in the Lafayette parish jail on a 140-thousand dollar bond, accused of carjacking a victim Tuesday evening and leading cops on wild chase on the south side.

A police spokeswoman says Daryion Bonnet got a ride from the victim from a gas station in Maurice to Acadiana Mall where he carjacked the victim at knife-point and took off.

The victim's vehicle had a trailer attached, and Bonnet caused at least five minor accidents along Ambassador Caffery in his attempt to get away, according to the spokeswoman. He fled on foot but was arrested a short time later.
