Youngsville, LA (KADN) -- After Southside and Lafayette both had games canceled during week 5, the Sharks and Lions are hungry to return to the football field Friday night at 7pm at Lafayette. It's the Lions homecoming, but the Sharks are trying still trying to beat their undefeated crosstown opponent. Lafayette high school coach Cedric Figaro says both teams could be rusty after missing games last week.
"Yes, definitely," Figaro said. "Anytime you haven't played, they haven't played as well. Hopefully we can push the kids through at practice, but anytime you haven't played there are going to be some timing issues."
Josh Fontenot's Southside team had games canceled against Landry-Walker and Southwood. They still have to find a way to knock off the undefeated lions.
"You are what your record says you are," Fontenot said. "Those guys are playing really well right now on defense and they have a very very good quarterback. He's one of the toughest in the district."
