The Scott Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire as a result of lightning striking a home in the 1000 block of Renaud Drive on Monday September 28,2020 at 1:33 PM. Upon arrival witnesses informed firefighters that lightning hit the top of the structure, at which point smoke began to emit from the roof. Once on the roof firefighters observed a hole , caused by a lightning strike. No one was home during the incident, therefore firefighters forced entry into the structure to investigate the extent of damage. Once inside, it was determined that all electrical outlets were burnt or damaged due to the lightning strike. Firefighters placed a tarp over the hole to minimize water damage to the structure. Firefighters also disconnected power to the structure to prevent an electrical fire. The homeowner arrived and the home was turned back over to her. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
