Lafayette, La. – Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) suspended service disconnects and late payment penalties for LUS customers after Governor John Bel Edwards declared a statewide Public Health Emergency in March 2020. The moratorium on service disconnects and late payment charges has since been lifted and LUS will begin to reinstate late payment charges.
LUS utility customers have until October 16, 2020 to apply for a payment arrangement that would spread their existing utility bill balance across multiple monthly payments for up to six months.
To make a payment arrangement, customers can visit www.lus.org and click the link at the top of the page to submit a request for payment arrangement. LUS will respond to requests within 3-5 business days.
As Lafayette’s publicly owned utility, LUS will continue its mission of providing reasonable utility rates and reliable services to the community.
