Lafayette Police Seeking Help in Solving Homicide

Detectives are reaching out to the public for help in solving a murder that left one man dead back in May.

Detectives are reaching out to the public for help in solving a murder that left one man dead back in May.

On May 30, 2020 at approximately 11 p.m., officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a firearm in the 500 Blk of Joan St.

Once on scene, officers located 26-year-old Telvis Benjamin suffering from a single gunshot wound. Medical assistance was provided prior to him being transported to a local hospital.

Once at the hospital, he succumbed to his wound and was pronounced deceased.

The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

This investigation is ongoing.
