Lafayette Non-Profit Holds Annual New Hope Giving Days Fundraiser

Posted: Nov 17, 2020 9:05 AM

New Hope Lafayette is holding its annual fundraiser from now, through Giving Day, Dec. 1. The non-profit organization is rooted in faith and committed to ensuring educational and developmental opportunities for children in under-resourced communities. Reaching the donation drive’s goal of $7,500 would facilitate operational costs of the program, and further its impact on students in its Azalea Park community. It would also fund the expansion of New Hope’s Online Academy, which provides a much-needed educational alternative for students during the pandemic. The pandemic also slowed usual fundraising opportunities, so now donations can be made online at the Facebook fundraiser page , through New Hope Lafayette’s Venmo or PayPal , or with a check
by mail. Working directly with under-resourced children, New Hope knows that many of them deal with significant stress, which can affect their academic performance and behavior. The program focuses on creating a safe, nurturing environment designed to engage and inspire students, as well as help them with their homework. “What we do is for everyone,” said co-founder John Newman. “We want to be a light — we want to be proof of a loving God in a hurting world.” During the school year, New Hope provides after-school tutoring for neighborhood children four days a week, and a summer enrichment program, in addition to the Online Academy Learning Center. The founders and staff have decades of combined educational and early childhood development experience, and have served the community in this capacity for eight years. The expansion of New Hope’s hours, and online program, has increased the need for staffing and funding, yet the organization remains focused on fulfilling its mission with the children of the community. New Hope Lafayette hopes you are called to support its mission of empowering and equipping under-resourced children, their families, and men and women, to reclaim their God-given potential. This is achieved by establishing relationally based programs that holistically meet students educational, spiritual and economic needs, and your generosity helps the students succeed. Donate through Venmo @NewHopeLafayette, visit NewHopeLafayette.org/newhopegiving/fundraiser for the link to PayPal , or mail donations to PO Box 53654 Lafayette, LA 70505.
