LAFAYETTE, LA – Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has received a national commendation from the American Public Power Association for its support in electric power restoration efforts in Houma, La.
On October 29, LUS sent multiple crews to assist Terrebonne Parish which suffered outages as a result of Hurricane Zeta.
“LUS is very proud to participate in mutual aid especially when it is in our own state,” said Greg Labbe’, LUS Electric Operations Manager. “The last time we went to Houma was right after Hurricane Gustav.”
“To be able to call on qualified, experienced teams to come and help and then go assist others in need is what mutual aid is all about,” says Lowell Duhon, LUS Interim Director. “Mutual aid is invaluable in our industry.”
LUS participates in the American Public Power Association’s Mutual Aid Network, which coordinates with public utilities and authorities during widespread power outages.
