Notice for Customers To Continue Electric Conservation

Lafayette, LA (February 17, 2021) – Utilities in the Acadiana region have been notified by the regional electric grid regulators that due to current high demand, all of Louisiana is experiencing a power shortage. Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has been instructed to notify and ask our customers to continue conserving electric power today, February 17.

Some immediate ways to help conserve energy:

  • Set your thermostat to 68 degrees or lower
  • Unplugging or turning off non-essential appliances or electronics
  • Avoid using large appliances
  • When not at home, lower the thermostat as much as possible. Be mindful of pets.
