"And we just have to suck it up and do it and this thing will go away as it did before"

The Lafayette Parish School System will implement a mask mandate for the return to school, complying with the governor’s reinstatement of the mandate but one parent disagrees.

"I'm totally against it totally totally totally she is starting kindergarten this year and and I'd hate for her to be going through that her to get the sores in her mouth"

David Pitre says he believes as of now masks are necessary.

"I think the mask are a necessity at this point with resurgence of the delta variant and perhaps more to come whether there an annoyance or not I think we need to wear them and I think the older school kids should wear the mask for sure"

While the CDC advises most of adults to wear mask while in public some wonder what about children? One parents says since the start of the pandemic her kids simply didn't need one.

"We've actually been able to make it through this whole pandemic without them having to wear a mask my middlest is only six so before the age was eight and above so my younger two didn’t have to wear them and if we are in a circumstance where someone says you need to put on a mask on your kids then we just politely leave and do outside activities"
