(KADN) - Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents arrested a Carencro man Monday for his alleged involvement in an August 8 False River boating incident.
Chris Richard, 64, is charged with felony hit and run, careless operation of a vessel and negligent injury.
Richard was booked into the Point Coupee Parish Jail.
Previously, the Point Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office identified Richard as a Lafayette area attorney.
According to the Louisiana Bar, Richard owns a Lafayette law office. He's also listed on the Lafayette District Attorney's website as an assistant district attorney.
LDWF agents determined that Richard was operating a 20 foot pontoon boat on False River when he collided with three juveniles being pulled on a tube from another boat.
"According to witnesses and those involved with the incident, Richard initially jumped in the water to check on the three juveniles, but then got back on his boat and left the scene to go back to his camp on False River and then home to Carencro," the release said.
One of the victims was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with a fractured Pelvis.
