LCA begins season vs. Acadiana

Posted: Sep 30, 2020 5:10 AM

Lafayette, LA (KADN) -- Acadiana starts the season traveling to LCA for the debut of the Knights new football stadium. Both teams won state titles last season.  The Rams handed the Knights their only loss of the season last year and ended LCA's 22 game winning streak.

"We have a a totally different team and we understand that they do as well," Lafayette Christian head football coach Jarcade Carter said.  "We understand that was our solo loss last year, but there are different players on this team so we've got to recognize it is going to be a championship atmosphere."

"Lafayette Christian won a state championship three years in a row I believe,"  Acadiana head football coach Matt McCullough said. "They were a good football team last year.  They are physical and they have good athletes so its going to be a good football game."

For the Rams to win back-to-back state titles, Matt McCullough is telling his team to focus on winning each week at a time and the rest will take care of itself with preperation and hard work.   Kickoff for the opening game is Friday night at 7pm at LCA.
