This week’s KidLit Pick of the Week is Rain Before Rainbows by Smriti Prasadam-Halls. I have to say this is a new favorite of mine and should be on every bookshelf.

In this heartfelt story about courage, change, and moving on, a girl and her companion fox travel together away from past troubles to more happier times. Through challenging and stormy circumstances, the girl keeps moving forward towards color, light and life.

Along the way they find friends to guide and support them, and when the new day dawns, it is full of promise. With brilliant, rich illustrations, a reader will find hope and a ray of sunshine within this book.

This book is a good reminder of the help and support that is out there. Even with past troubles, there is always hope to look forward to. I think theres a message within this book that whatever means helps you get through something, whether it’s friendships, or for me, prayer, hope will bring the dawn of a new day. Have the courage to continue looking for that bright light and hope.
