LAKE CHARLES, LA – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced Wednesday that FEMA is awarding an additional $15,151,259.99 for hurricane recovery efforts in South Louisiana.

The grants include:

$1,880,724.10 to Vermilion Parish for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share.
$5,514,565.30 to Calcasieu Parish School Board for emergency protective measures, including temporary roof coverings, in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share.
$5,760,030.31 to Calcasieu Parish School Board for emergency protective measures, including temporary roof repairs, in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share.
$1,995,940.28 to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety (State Police) for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Delta. The reimbursement is made at a 75% federal cost-share.

Last week, Congressman Higgins called on FEMA to expedite the review and approval of Calcasieu Parish School Board’s Public Assistance (PA) applications. Read that letter here.

All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.

Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:

“An efficient federal assistance approval process and the delivery of these reimbursements are critical for Southwest Louisiana’s recovery efforts. We continue to push FEMA to streamline access to existing funding and to expedite the processing of Public Assistance applications for last year’s hurricanes.”
