Hamilton Academy Chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) Service Project bridges the gap between the youth and grandparents. In today’s world of violence these young people have been making a positive difference in the lives of so many in the Lafayette community. This year the Chapter will sponsor the 5th Annual Make a Difference Day event on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Due to Covid19 the event will be Virtual.
Special Community Outreach opportunity features a question & answer activity along with a group discussion on what can be done to make the community better.
The NHSDA is an national organization under the umbrella of The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). The mission of NHSDA is To recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance in public and private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural/community centers, performing arts organizations, and post-secondary education. To foster an appreciation for dance as a true art form and one worthy of recognition and prestige.
Hip Hop Teachers include local Hip Hop teachers Donella Batiste form HAA and Terrance Morgan from Kabuki Dancers. Kabuki Dancers are a group of performing artists from the Acadiana area of Louisiana. As a group, they have performed and competed at various festivals, stage shows and competitions throughout the nation. Highlights include: The Apollo Theater NYC, as well as part of Festival International de Louisiane. Locally, they work within the public school system to inform and influence the community in a positive way. He brings passion and energy to the dance floor.
