Gov. Edwards Announces Boards and Commissions Appointments

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

BATON ROUGE — Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

Parish Board of Election Supervisors

The purpose of the board in each parish is to oversee and supervise all elections within the parish to ensure the safety and accuracy of the democratic process. The Board of Election Supervisors oversees the preparation and conducting of each election in the parish. Each parish’s board is composed of the parish’s registrar of voters, the parish’s clerk of court, the chairman of the parish executive committee of each recognized political party, and one member appointed by the governor.
Angelle P. Songy of LaPlace has been appointed to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors. Songy is a real estate agent and will serve as the election supervisor of St. John the Baptist Parish.
Yvonne D. Jefferson of Monroe has been appointed to the Parish Board of Election Supervisors. Jefferson is a florist and will serve as the election supervisor of Ouachita Parish.

Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation Board

The Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation Board’s mission is to purchase, finance, and manage the tobacco assets resulting from the Master Settlement Agreement.
William Bryan of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation Board. Bryan is an attorney at the Law Offices of William P. Bryan III and will serve at-large.

Health Education Authority of Louisiana

The Health Education Authority of Louisiana is responsible for promoting the medical and health education activities of private and public institutions in the state, assisting in providing prompt and efficient medical and health care services at a reasonable cost, and striving to achieve standards of attainment in health care and education.
William Bryan of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Health Education Authority of Louisiana. Bryan is an attorney at the Law Offices of William P. Bryan III and will serve at-large.

Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority

The Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority has the power to provide financial assistance to the Louisiana agricultural community. It has financed, constructed, and owns most of the office buildings and supporting facilities utilized by the Department of Agriculture.
The Honorable Christopher Turner of Ruston has been appointed to the Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority and was nominated by the Speaker of the House.
Hugh Andre of New Iberia has been appointed to the Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority. Andre is the owner of HMC farms and was nominated by the Speaker of the House.

Chiropractic Association of Louisiana

The Chiropractic Association of Louisiana’s mission is to serve as educator, bringing to members of the community a greater awareness of and appreciation for the contributions made by chiropractic physicians as members of the healing arts.
Denise D. Rollette M.D. of Hammond has been reappointed to the Chiropractic Association of Louisiana. Rollette is the owner of Rollette Chiropractic Center.

Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine
The Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine’s mission is to promote public health, safety, and welfare by safeguarding the people of the State of Louisiana from incompetent and dishonest practices of veterinary medicine.
Trisha C. Marullo D.V.M. of Maurice has been appointed to the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine. Marullo is a veterinarian at the Broussard Veterinary Clinic.

Police Training, Screening, and De-escalation Task Force

The Police Training, Screening, and De-escalation Task Force’s mission is to study and make recommendations to the legislature on the topics of training, screening, de-escalation, racial bias recognition, misconduct, use of force, identifying and eliminating bad actors.
Raymond T. Diamond of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Police Training, Screening, and De-escalation Task Force. Diamond is a professor at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
Darrell B. Basco of Pineville has been appointed to the Police Training, Screening, and De-escalation Task Force. Basco is the deputy chief of the Pineville Police Department. Basco was nominated by the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police and Louisiana Union of Police Association.

Louisiana D.A.R.E. Advisory Board

The Louisiana D.A.R.E. Advisory Board is charged with developing, promoting, monitoring, and evaluating the DARE program throughout the state. The board serves as an advisory body to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice in this respect.
Sheriff Kevin W. Cobb of Winnsboro has been appointed to the Louisiana D.A.R.E. Advisory Board. Cobb is the sheriff of Franklin Parish and will serve as a member of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.
Sheriff Julian C. Whittington of Benton has been appointed to the Louisiana D.A.R.E. Advisory Board. Whittington is the sheriff of Bossier Parish and will serve as a member of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.
Sheriff Victor E. Jones Jr. of Natchez has been appointed to the Louisiana D.A.R.E. Advisory Board. Jones is the sheriff of Natchitoches Parish and will represent community interests.
