Georgia Man Arrested On Attempted 1st Degree Murder Charges In Connection With Drive-By Shooting

Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in reference to a report of a vehicle occupied by five individuals, being shot at while traveling east bound on I-10 near mile marker 112

St. Martinville, LA - Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in reference to a report of a vehicle occupied by five individuals, being shot at while traveling east bound on I-10 near mile marker 112 in the early morning hours of July 17, 2021. Upon initial investigation, Deputies located several bullet holes on the vehicle in addition to a shattered passenger side window.

An investigation into the incident was initiated and during the course of the investigation, Deputies were able to identify the suspect and obtained a Warrant of Arrest for Markus Onterious Andrews, 37, Atlanta, Georgia.

On July 22, 2021, Andrews was arrested by Deputies with the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office and was transported and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on Monday evening, July 26, 2021. He was charged as follows:

5 counts-LA R.S. 14:30/14:27-Attempted 1st Degree Murder
