Lafayette, La (KADN) The direct economic impact of higher gas prices has many in Acadiana wondering why prices are fluctuating.
"I'm at sixty-seven dollars right now so I'm thinking it's going to stop somewhere around seventy-two seventy-five"
The economy is still struggling to emerge from issues caused by the pandemic such as gas prices some as low as twenty dollars for a full tank or as high as seventy-two dollars which is what Wesley Green is accustomed to paying.
"You got to have it you need it so you know whether it's high or low you still gotta pay for it
The national gas price average has increased 40% since the start of the year one person tells me they would like to see prices increase more.
"Well, there two eighty-seven for regular and I think I wish it would go maybe a little higher and more people could have jobs"
Oil and gas companies have encountered labor shortages which can also have an impact on gasoline production. The current average for gas in Acadiana is $2.77 and Green believes gas is a necessity so there's no need to complain.
"You gotta pay for it if you need it you know you gotta have it so I mean it's up to you if you don't pay for it you cant go where you need to go do what you need to do"
